About Me

Hi, I’m Michele — an animal welfare copywriter and strategist dedicated to giving homeless, abandoned and neglected pets a voice.

My path here wasn’t linear. It began in a local marketing agency, where I wrote copy across countless industries. But over time, I realized something important: the most powerful writing doesn’t come from research alone — it comes from lived experience, from the stories that shake you, change you and stay with you.

That shift happened for me inside one of the largest public open-admission animal shelters in the nation.

Volunteering there opened my eyes to the reality of the pet crisis — the overcrowding, the heartbreaking decisions staff must make, the way good dogs deteriorate behind kennel bars simply because there aren’t enough homes. I walked dogs who had shut down. I soothed dogs trembling with fear. I saw the pain, the confusion and the hope in their eyes. And it moved me to my core.

Then came the moment that changed everything: fostering a dog scheduled for euthanasia over something as simple as a cold.

Saving her — watching her heal, transform and grow into the amazing dog she is today — ignited something in me. A fire. A calling. The deep conviction that every animal deserves to be seen… and that stories have the power to save lives.

I experienced the sorrow of knowing I couldn’t help them all — and the indescribable joy of knowing I helped at least one. Those moments, both heavy and beautiful, shaped my mission: to use my writing to elevate animal welfare organizations, amplify their impact, educate the public and move people to action.

Today, I combine my professional writing and marketing background with my hands-on shelter experience to help rescues, shelters, nonprofits and pet-centered brands:

  • Raise more funding

  • Increase adoptions

  • Build community trust

  • Position themselves as solutions to the pet crisis

  • Tell stories that deepen empathy and drive change

I don’t write from the outside looking in. I write as someone who has walked the kennels, held the trembling puppies, fostered the overlooked and felt the anguish of witnessing a perfectly healthy dog lose her life over kennel stress.

This work is more than copywriting to me — it’s my way of advocating for the animals who need us most, one story at a time.

If you’re ready to expand your mission, strengthen your messaging and connect with supporters who care as deeply as you do, I’d love to help.

Together, we’ll give animals a stronger voice — and propel your mission to new heights.
